lyrics

We look down and scoff upon the common citizen
We see their dress and posture and we ask "What's wrong with them?"
They slump, speak poorly, and are untidy, the sight of them is quite unsightly
They should learn to act the way we do because we're proper people.

She puts on a fancy dress which adheres to the rules
I put on my suit and bowtie, yes bowties are stylish
Each night's dinner is steak and wine; greasy burgers are not divine
We do this for the sake of dignity, because we're proper people.

When this restaurant catches fire, of this you can be sure
We don't panic, run, or scream, we're not so immature
With our style of classy living, we point and gasp and say "Good heavens!"
And then proceed to get out gracefully because we're proper people.
